Scenario:
The client is the major exploration and production company in the Sultanate. The Company places emphasis on the development and implementation of new technology to grow the value of its assets and to reduce costs.
The client approached Michael Page wanting us to recruit many Drilling staff to their organisation over a period of 3 months. They wanted to hire 30 senior level staff and would like us to headhunt only with a confirmed three weekends to be based out of Dubai.
Michael Page shortlisted and coordinated pre-screening technical interviews for over 100 Drilling Supervisors candidates. Michael Page confirmed over 50 candidates to be interviewed in Dubai for a face to face and coordinated the hotels, medicals, transportation, testing for the candidates. We have successfully had over 20 accepted offers to date and this process is on-going.
The client came to Michael Page wanting us to recruit a number of senior staff to their organisation in a very small timeframe. They wanted to hire 45 senior level staff in a 3 week period targeting the UAE market. QP CEO, COO and senior staff wanted to interview 120 candidates over 4 days including a controlled walk in campaign on the 4th day.
We advertised the role online, head-hunted and delivered 120 candidates over 4 days. We coordinated the hotel, catering, candidates, flights and interview times for the 120 candidates. Over 50 candidates were selected and presented with an offer at the end of the 4 days with 44 accepting. Michael Page coordinated the on-boarding process (visa, mobilization flights, medical testing) with all candidates and they have all joined the client organisation.
The client organisation has an established reputation as a reliable supplier of oil & gas equipment and has a complete turnkey capability in all areas of process equipment and plant supply from integrated design (FEED) through to engineering, fabrication, commissioning and testing. We work globally with them as a recruitment partner. We have recruited CEO, General Manager, Chief Process Engineer amongst many other senior level roles.
The briefs are typically extremely tough due to the niche nature of the skill sets required, technical nature of the products and work they cover, as well as wanting global oil and gas experience. We undertook Global Searches using our Michael Page network, online advertising and Headhunting. Using these routes to market we were able to offer a full market mapping process to the client with a long list of potential candidates plus an ultimate shortlist of selected candidates. They have been interviewed thoroughly, screened and assessed by us beforehand.
We suggested a 5-week period to present a shortlist of candidates for the role. We successfully filled all roles within the technical and operations fields, and we also work across Michael Page’s other key disciplines including Finance, HR, Sales, IT amongst other.
From the deepest Subsea oil & gas developments to the largest and most complex Offshore and Onshore infrastructures, our client offers the best solutions and most innovative technologies to meet the world’s energy challenges. Michael Page were engaged to recruit a Head of Department for the Structural Offshore team which is managing a team of 60 engineers designing offshore oilrigs and platforms. This was very niche, sought-after position with a highly technical and niche skill set, based in Abu Dhabi.
Michael Page recommended a retained solution for this where we targeted and headhunted specific people from targeted companies. In addition to this we conducted a global search utilising our Michael Page resources and complimented this with an online advertising package. The combined effect of these solutions meant we were able to complete a shortlist of relevant candidates for the role resulting in a placement and relocation of a UK-based candidate.
Michael Page were engaged to recruit a General Manager to run the Saudi Operations reporting to the Group Managing Director. This was a senior position controlling multiple projects across several countries responsible for over 3000 people. We were also engaged to recruit an Operations Manager plus a Chemical Cleaning Specialist.
Michael Page were engaged on an exclusive basis to source the suitable candidate from the Middle East market preferably, or from the wider European, Australian or South African marketplace. The profile needed specific Industrial Services experience at a senior level and as such we needed to conduct a thorough sourcing program and screening process to enable us to find the right person. Recruiting in Saudi Arabia is challenging but we are experienced in managing the process with candidates from start to finish and are open, informed and knowledgeable about the process and issues, due to our extensive experience working in the Kingdom.
This was a global search which resulted in a successful placement and we are working closely with them on further managerial positions to enable their business to continue to grow and operate effectively in the region.
